Major international chess tournament brought together more than 300 participants in Ufa

Four grandmasters and 15 masters from four countries became participants in the Ufa 8th R. Kh. Gumerov Memorial. The tournament was held in the Ufa “Toratau” Congress Hall and gathered a total of more than 300 participants, the Chess Federation of Bashkortostan reports.

In addition to foreign guests, chess players from 52 regions of Russia and municipalities of Bashkortostan came to Ufa. The participants competed for gold medals and valuable prizes in several groups.

The international master Muhammat Husenkhodjaev, one of the leaders of the national team of Tajikistan, became the strongest in the “A” tournament, the grandmaster Gennady Matyushin from Donetsk (DPR) was the second.

The FIDE master from Kazan Dmitry Ospennikov was the best in the most massive tournament of experienced chess players - he won the second Gumerov memorial in a row. In the women's competition, Elvina Fakhritdinova from Sterlitamak scored the most number of points, there were two winners at once in the veterans tournament: Danil Kuptaraev from the Dyurtyulinsky district and Valery Akhmadeev from Naberezhnye Chelny.

“The Gumerov Memorial was deservedly among the most important Russian tournaments for a long time. This year, it confirmed its high reputation, both in terms of organizing major international competitions and in the number of titled participants. Moreover, the Ufa tournament coped with this task “brilliantly”, summed up the honorary guest of the tournament, State Duma deputy Mikhail Bugera.
