Ufa draughts player Alexander Georgiev leads at World Cup in Riga

The international World Cup Riga Open 2019 tournament continues in Riga: four out of nine rounds have been played. The Russians are ahead: the 9-time world champion, the athlete of the Central Draughts Club “Bashkortostan” Alexander Georgiev is the leader among men and the 4-time world champion Daria Tkachenko (Moscow) is the leader among women. They have three wins and a draw, 7 points.

The leader Alexander Georgiev is followed by the peloton of 16 with a lag of one point - including his teammate Aynur Shaibakov. Next, 17 athletes scored 5 points each, among them Ufa schoolboy Tamerlan Akhmerov and Ishimbay highly experienced draught player Anatoly Tatarenko. The second and third prize-winners of the Bashkortostan championship, have two victories and a draw each respectively.

81 players compete in the men's tournament, 24 of them are grandmasters, which causes quite a great closeness of results.

There are 41 participants in the women's tournament, nine of them are international grandmasters. Darya Tkachenko is followed by 16 players within two points: three have 6 points, 13 have 5. Elena Milshina from Ishimbay, Ufa natives Aliya Aminova and Aigul Idrisova stand in one victory to the first line of the tournament. m Ufa students Agata Parakhina and Kristina Osipova scored 4 points each(50%).
