Mayor's Office supported idea to create bicycle rental network and city cycle ring in Ufa

Today, July 24, activists of the bicycle community of Ufa met with the mayor of the city, Ulfat Mustafin, to discuss the development of bicycle infrastructure.

“The city faces the task of increasing the length of cycle paths and improving their quality. It is necessary to develop cycling in Ufa, ”said Ulfat Mustafin.

A representative of the bicycle community of Ufa, a member of the Public Chamber of the city, Polina Vishnevskaya, spoke about creating cycle pedestrian paths in the city and updating the existing ones.

“We propose to create new lanes on a number of streets, thus, this will allow uniting the existing bicycle paths into one single ring network,” said the social activist.

Besides, she said that "on this or the beginning of the next week, we will complete a drive over the city together with the city administration for a specific set of tasks".

Now in Ufa, taking into account the forest-park zones, about 68 km of bicycle paths have been landscaped. At the same time, the longest bicycle path, equipped with markings and signs, goes along October Avenue, and there are no cycle paths in the city center, moreover, many curbs remain high.

At the meeting, they discussed the development of a bicycle rental network, where related services are provided and minor repairs are carried out. As Polina Vishnevskaya posted on her Facebook page, the mayor of the city supports the idea of creating bike-sharing stations in Ufa.
