Summer Universiade-2023 will be held in Yekaterinburg

Yekaterinburg will host Summer Universiade in 2023. The decision was announced by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in Naples. It clarifies that the capital of the Urals was the only contender for the Games.

“In order to host the Universiade, we still have to work hard. It is necessary to build new sports facilities, including the Palace of water sports, an athletics stadium, additional tennis courts. It is necessary to build a competent logistics, to ensure the work of transport and so on. We are ready for this work. After all, the new infrastructure, logistics and technology will become the main legacy of the Universiade and will serve the people, first of all - our children and young people. Residents of the region are waiting for this. I am sure that the Universiade in Yekaterinburg will be one of the most prominent in the history of the international student movement, ” the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev commented on the winning.

The Summer Universiade-2019 starts in Naples on July 5. Note that Russia will host the world student games for the second time. The first ones took place in Kazan in 2013.
