Powerlifter from Bashkiria set world record having lifted 365 kg

A 41-year-old Alexander Sykmenev from the Bashkir city of Kumertau managed to set a world record for the bench press in the weight category up to 120 kg in Tokyo. The athlete lifted a barbell weighing 365 kg.

His young colleagues from Bashkiria won medals at the last World Cup in Japan. The 17-year-old trainee of the Children's and Youth Sports School No. 4 of the Oktyabrsky city, Ksenia Maternalskaya, won a gold medal in the category up to 57 kg. The girl managed to lift 100 kg.

A 30-year-old Jan Urusov from Oktyabrsky took the second place in the category up to 66 kg, having lifted a barbell weighing 237.5 kg.

As previously reported by the Bashinform News Agency, in Ufa, the eight-time world champion Emin Mamedov set a record for Russia on the bench press and then lost consciousness.
