After a grand opening of the Days of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a friendly hockey match was held at the “Ufa-Arena” between the teams of HC Salavat Yulaev and HC Ak Bars. The leaders of both regions made a symbolic throw-in.
“We are fraternal republics and the entire Bashkiria is rooting for Ak Bars when it competes with other teams,” said Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov. “It was our hockey veterans who formed what we call today the “green derby” and created the glory of modern hockey.”
Following a colleague in his native Tatar language, Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed all those present on the Ufa ice and the stands.
“First of all, I congratulate Bashkortostan on its 100th anniversary. You are the first of our republics to celebrate the anniversary and it is very pleasant to be in your beautiful city,” the President of Tatarstan emphasized. “Hockey is the most important sport for our republics. I wish you a good game. ”
Note that at the veteran match the representatives of the Tatarstan national team were the first to distinguish themselves. However, after a few minutes, the Salavat Yulaev’s player Andrei Kuznetsov equalized the score.
