Radiy Khabirov met with Secretary General of International Children's Games Committee Richard Smith

The Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov met with the Secretary-General of the International Children's Games Committee Richard Smith. They discussed the preparation of sports facilities and the Ufa infrastructure to hold the Summer International Children's Games in 2019. The head of the region noted that Russia would host summer children's competitions for the first time. To date, 35 countries have already confirmed their participation. It is expected that more than 1,200 young athletes will come to Ufa.
Competitions will be conducted at the Center for Sports Training on Kamyshlinskaya Street, Kashkadan Culture and Recreation Park, Vatan Park, Sports School No. 32 and at the Neftyanik Stadium. Preparation of facilities for games is carried out in accordance with the schedule. According to the Acting Head of Bashkortostan, it is expected that representatives of federal government bodies, famous athletes will arrive at children's games, and a diverse cultural program will be prepared.
“We are confident that the competitions will be carried out at the highest level,” said Radiy Khabirov. “I hope that many of those guys who will come here will become Olympic champions in the future.”
Richard Smith, who arrived in Ufa to assess the readiness of sports facilities for the competitions, expressed gratitude to the organizers for good preparation. The 2019 Summer International Children's Games will include competitions in nine sports (athletics, football, swimming, fencing, beach volleyball, basketball, Greco-Roman wrestling, rock climbing, judo), which will be held at sports facilities in the capital of Bashkortostan. Earlier, Ufa hosted the 6th Winter International Children's Games 2013. The competition was attended by national teams from 60 cities in 20 countries of the world. Athletes competed for 170 medals in seven sports. The capital of Bashkortostan will be the only city in the world in the entire history of the International Children's Games to host both winter and summer competitions.
