HC Salavat Yulaev interrupted series of defeats having beaten Kunlun Red Star in shootouts

HC Salavat Yulaev in the first away match against Kunlun Red Star won a victory in the shootout series. The Ufa team took the lead in the first period: Artem Sergeev assisted, and Vyacheslav Solodukhin scored a goal.

In the second period, Salavat Yulaev slowed down and gave the initiative to the opponent. The Red Stars took advantage of Ufa’s mistakes and scored two goals in the net of Andrei Kareyev.

After the second break, Dmitry Kugryshev mostly brought the Bashkir club ahead, having scored his 100th goal in the KHL.

The winner was not defined in the overtime, although the Salavat Yulaev had very good chances. The Ufa team finally succeeded in the shootout series. The winning shot was recorded again by Kugryshev. For the first time in the 11th KHL season, Salavat Yulaev won in a series of post-match shots.

On January 24, a return match of Salavat Yulaev and Kunlun Red Star will take place.
