European Championship in International Draughts ended with triumph of Bashkir players

The European Draughts Championship in Moscow ended with a triumph of the Bashkir players.

“16 draught players from Ufa, Sterlitamak, Ishimbay performed in eight events, and in each won a medal for Bashkiria,” Rustam Shayakhmetov, a spokesman for the Federation of International Draughts, told the Bashinform News Agency.

In the team event, the Russian national team was the first four times. Ufa residents Tamara Tansykkuzhina, Aigul Idrisova, Alexander Georgiev and Ainur Shaibakov became European champions as part of the national team.

The Bashkir representatives occupied the entire prize podium among men in the 2nd European Cup. The first and second places were taken by the Ufa residents Ainur Shaibakov and Alexander Georgiev. The representative of Sterlitamak Murodullo Amrillayev was in the third place.

The nine-time world champion Alexander Georgiev became the second in the 20th European Championship, having lost the championship title to the main sensation of the tournament - Belarusian junior Mikhail Semenyuk. The third was a 21-year-old Martine van Eisendorn from the Netherlands.

Among women, both in the 10th European Championship and in the 2nd European Cup in the super blitz, a prize-winning podium was invariably Russian. The first two places were taken by representatives of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - Matryona Nogovitsyna and Natalia Shestakova.
