Russian-Chinese Winter Games in Ufa: First Competition Day Results

UFA, 17 December 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. On Sunday, December 16, the first competition day was held at the Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games in Ufa. Russian athletes have started quite successfully.

Hockey players of the Russian national team began with a victory over a team from China. The match on the UFA-Arena ended with a crushing score - 14: 0.

The next match will be held on Monday, December 17, beginning at 3 p.m.

Dancing pairs were the first in figure skating on the Ufa ice of the Palace of Sports. Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin were in the lead. The second position was also occupied by the Russians - Polina Ivanenko and Daniil Karpov (both pairs from Moscow). The Chinese figure skaters were the third in terms of points - Yu Joo Guo/Peng Kun Zhao.

As for singles, the boys were led by Andrei Mozalev (St. Petersburg) in the short program, Arthur Danilyan (Moscow) was in the second place, and Yu Don Chen (China) took the third position. The top three among girls was all Russian: Victoria Vasilyeva, Anastasia Kostiuk, Ksenia Sinitsyna. All figure skaters were from Moscow. Final performances will be held on December 17, the beginning also at 3 p.m.

Representatives of the Chinese side were the best in the short track competition at a distance of 1500 meters. The whole podium was taken by Chinese short-trackers. Zhang Tianyi celebrated the victory among the boys, Yu Xiangjiang Wen ranked second, Lew Jin Han (all-China) closed the top three. Among girls, Chio Djidan took the first place, Zhao YuanWei was the second, Wang Xihan was the third. The best result among boys was shown by Askar Abdrakhimov - a representative of the Bashkir sport, he was the fifth. Among the girls - Anastasia Zheganova took the eighth place.

The first snowboard competitions were held at the Alpine Skiing Sports School. Young athletes competed for awards in the parallel slalom in the individual and team events.

In the team parallel slalom, the victory was won by the first Russian team, which included Sofia Nadyrshina (Sakhalin Region) and Arseny Tomin (Moscow Region). The second place was taken by the second Russian team consisting of Maria Volgina and Stepan Naumov (both from the Chelyabinsk region). The third place went to the representatives of the first team of China - Yu Yang and Lyi Mei Shuo.

Among young men, the winner of the competition was Stepan Naumov (Chelyabinsk region). The second place went to Ding Xuedong, the third place to Yaroslav Stepanko (Chelyabinsk region). A representative of the Bashkir sports - Kyrill Ped stopped one step from the prize podium, having taken fourth place.

Sophia Nadyrshina (Sakhalin region) won among girls, the second place went to Maria Volgina (Chelyabinsk region), and the third place to Ekaterina Kaganyuk (Kemerovo region).

In cross-country skiing competitions at the Biathlon sports and recreation center, the girls competed for medals at a distance of 5 km, and boys - 10 km.

The first was Diana Alekseeva, the second - Yana Blinova (both from Udmurtia), the third Tun Jeng (China).

Among the boys, the entire prize podium was taken by the Russian athletes. The 10-kilometer freestyle race was won by Yakov Russkih. Alexander Ivshin was in the second place, Alexey Loktionov was the third (all from Udmurtia). The best of Chinese athletes was Tang Jinghe: he showed the fourth result.
