Swimmer from Bashkortostan Polina Egorova won gold of 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games

UFA, 8 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Natalia Ovcharuk/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. Three athletes from Bashkortostan represent Russia at the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games, which are hosted by Buenos Aires. Polina Egorova won a gold medal for the country in the first competitions among swimmers. The athlete from the city of Salavat rose to the first step of the podium after a mixed 4x100 m relay (freestyle). The second place was taken by the Brazilians, the third - by representatives of the PRC.
According to the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports RB, four thousand athletes between the ages of 15 and 18 participate in the Youth Olympic Games. Representatives from 206 countries of the world came for medals at international competitions.
Also, there are two more athletes from Bashkiria in the Russian team: Stanislav Cheremiskin (archery) and Aigul Gareeva (cycling).
“Compared to the previous Games, which were held in 2014 in Nanjing, five new sports were included in the upcoming program: break dance, karate, rock climbing, roller skating, and acrobatics. Two kinds of sports - squash and polo - will be presented as demonstration ones”, the department informs.
