In the first home game of the new KHL season, HC Salavat Yulaev in a match with Torpedo was the first to open a score. In the 23rd minute, Vyacheslav Solodukhin with a pass by Zharkov and Kemppainen shot the Nizhny Novgorod’s net. In the second period, Ufa and Nizhny Novgorod fans saw two more goals performed by the home team: Solodukhin made a double, and the third goal was scored by Kugryshev - 3: 0.

Three minutes after the start of the third period Salavat Yulaev distinguished itself for the fourth time, but the coaching staff of HC Torpedo considered that there was a foul and took a video review. The head judge of the match Anton Hoffman decided that the puck had been thrown with a hand. So the goal was not scored. This fact cheered the Nizhny Novgorod ice squad: a minute later the guests hit the net of Andrei Kareev. The fourth puck was thrown during "4 to 4" play: Anton Burdasov made an accurate struck. Nizhny Novgorod continued to go forward and reduced the gap: Vladimir Galuzin hit the Andrei Kareev’s net for the second time.

In three minutes before the final siren, the guests changed the goalkeeper to the sixth field player. In a moment only four Ufa players remained on the ice: Osipov went to the penalty box for throwing the puck outside the playing area. The third goal was not long in coming: Andrew Calof capitalized on the powerplay - 4: 3.
