UFA, 29 November 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Natalia Ovcharuk/. On November 29, the Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkortostan Rustem Mardanov presented state awards to directors of sports schools, coaches and participants of the 23rd Deaflympics Summer Games in a solemn atmosphere. From the Turkish city of Samsun, ten Bashkir athletes with disabilities brought 11 medals: four gold (two in judo, two in athletics), six silver medals (five in judo, one in badminton) and one bronze in judo.
The Deaflympic movement needs support from the state, business and the public. Rustem Mardanov stressed that in every corner of the republic sports conditions should be created for people with disabilities.
Total, about three thousand athletes - people with hearing disabilities - are engaged in sports in the region. 137 of these teenagers develop their skills in youth sports schools and Olympic reserve schools.
Specialized centers should be created to develop our success. The main facility where athletes with disabilities will be able to train will be a Sports Training Center in Ufa on Kamyshlinskaya Street. It is planned to be commissioned in 2019. After the opening, the capital of Bashkiria will be able to host international competitions.
After the introductory speech on the Decree of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Rustem Mardanov presented the awards. The Order of Friendship of Peoples was received by Valentin Pegov, judo coach of the sports school of the Olympic reserve "Hercules".
The Order of Salavat Yulaev was presented to the sports instructor of the sports school "Hercules" Rustem Akhmetov and the athlete of the Sterlitamak school of the Olympic reserve Rinat Kadyrov.
"For Dedicated Service in the Republic of Bashkortostan" decoration was conferred on the athletes and coaches from Ufa and Sterlitamak: Zaur Bedanokov, Yuri Zubkov, Midhat Musakayev, Mikhail Sidorov, Karina Khakimova.
Deaflympics are international sports competitions for persons with hearing disabilities, which have been held since 1924 apart from the Paralympic Games. They were divided, as the competitions among the deaf are held in full compliance with the rules of the international federations on sports (FIFA, FIVB, FILA and others).
