Ufa native Askar Khamzin won silver at World Universiade
UFA, 28 August 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Rozaliya Valeeva/. Ufa native Askar Khamzin won a silver medal at the 29th Summer Universiade, which is taking place in Chinese Taipei these days. The Russian fencers Askar Khamzin, Grigory Semenyuk, Alexander Sirotkin and Iskander Akhmetov became silver medalists in the team tournament having lost to the Japanese in the final - 38:45. In the small final for the bronze the Italians were stronger than the Ukrainians - 45:24. The Russian fencers reached the final of the team tournament having won the Argentines - 45:18, then the South Koreans - 42:41 and the Ukrainians - 45:42
Askar Khamzin is a member of the Russian fencing team. He is a winner of the World Cup stages, Russian Russian Cup, silver medalist of the European Championship.
The world international student-youth sports competitions take place on 21 kinds of sports. The programs of international student games include the following compulsory sports: basketball, water polo, volleyball, judo, athletics, swimming, diving, tennis and table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics and artistic gymnastics, taekwondo, football and fencing. The optional sports are proposed by the organizing committee of each particular Universiade. The Universiade-2017 program is replenished with roller skating, weightlifting and wushu.
