Bashkir athletes won 11 medals at 23rd Deaflympic Summer Games

UFA, 1 August 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Dmitry Slezin/. In the Samsun (Turkey), the 23rd Deaflympic Summer Games came to an end. Ten sportsmen from Bashkortostan - Karina Khakimova, Rustem Akhmetov, Zaur Bedanokov, Rinat Kadyrov, Rustem Nazmutdinov, Mikhail Sidorov, Liana Timasheva, Yulia Abubyakirova, Nelli Erofeeva and Denis Khakimov competed there as part of the Russian national team. They fought for medals in badminton, track and field athletics and judo.
The Russian team won in the team standings. The Russians have 83 gold, 51 silver and 61 bronze medals. Ukraine (21-41-36) took the second place, the Republic of Korea was the third - (17-19-13).
Bashkir athletes medal count includes 11 awards: four gold, six silver and one bronze.
The track and field athlete Julia Abubyakirova won at a distance of 800 meters and won team "gold" in the 4x100 meters relay.
Karina Khakimova won a silver award in the team tournament in badminton.
Bashkortostan has the largest number of medals in judo: Rustem Akhmetov (100 kg) and Rinat Kadyrov (90 kg) became champions; Kadyrov was also a silver medalist in the team tournament in his category; silver awards went to Zaur Bedonokov (individual and team tournament, 81 kg), Mikhail Sidorov (81 kg, team) and Liana Timasheva (63 kg, team); Timasheva won a bronze medal in an individual event.
