Rustem Khamitov headed column of "I BIKE UFA" participants

UFA, 17 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. In Ufa the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov participated in the "I BIKE UFA" International Bicycle Festival dedicated to the Year of Ecology and Specially Protected Natural Territories. Together with the participants of the bike ride, the head of the republic rode his bicycle from Lenin Square to the Congress Hall.

The sports festival is held in Ufa for the seventh time. The distance of the bike ride was 10 km.

At the festival, Rustem Khamitov discussed with the cycling activists the issues of urban bicycle infrastructure development.

The "I BIKE UFA" International Bicycle Festival was previously held as a cycling sport festival "1 000 Cyclists Day". It was first held in Ufa in May 2011 and was timed to 1,000 days before the start of the Olympic Games in Sochi. Participants in the festival were 1,000 Ufa residents and residents of nearby areas. In 2012, the number of participants increased to 2 thousand people, in 2013 - to 3,5 thousand, in 2014 - to 5,5 thousand, in 2015 - to 8 thousand, in 2016 - to 15 thousand.

The festival is the largest cycling event in Russia and is widely known outside the republic. Tourists and organized delegations from various cities of Russia take part in it. The main goal of the festival is the development of cycling in Bashkortostan for involving the maximum number of people to healthy lifestyle. Anyone can take part in it.
