Effective system for managing children's sports should be formed - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 12 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a meeting on the development of certain areas of physical culture and sports in the region. Members of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, heads of relevant ministries and departments, sports federations, heads of municipalities took part in it.

The meeting discussed the work of sports schools, implementation of the health-improving project "Healthy Generation - Strong Region", organization of physical culture and health activities in colleges, issues of accessibility of sports infrastructure for the population, including in rural areas.

To date, there are 127 children's and youth sports schools in Bashkortostan, where 68 kinds of sport are taught. There are hundreds of school sports clubs. A total of about 170 thousand children and adolescents are involved in them.

"At the same time sports schools for children are becoming more inaccessible. Recently, parents often address to me with questions why under various pretexts these institutions become payable, why the financial component is constantly growing? Why do various fees including "informal ones" increase in them?" noted Rustem Khamitov.

According to the head of the region, the commercialization of young athletes training becomes an obstacle for many talented children. In addition, part of the sports schools became a place of earning money for their leadership. In some of them, administrative positions are monopolized by family clans, which for many years successfully do business in children's sports.

The Head of the Republic also noted that an interdepartmental confusion was observed currently in the management of children's and youth sports schools, with lack of coordinated work on preparation of young athletes. All this is reflected in the results of young athletes.

"To avoid such facts, it is necessary to eliminate interdepartmental disunity, to form a unified, effectively operating management system for children's sports", said Rustem Khamitov.
