"Silk Road-2017": "KAMAZ-master" team announced its composition

The team of KAMAZ-master, the five-time winner of the Silk Road rally and the main favourite in the category of trucks of the marathon’s seventh edition, announced a composition of crews which will go to the transcontinental rally across Russia, Kazakhstan and China.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sport RB, the colours of "Blue Armada" at the solemn start of the rally on Red Square will be presented by four pilots, including two-time and current winner of the race Airat Mardeev and Eduard Nikolayev, who became the strongest in 2010, accompanied by Dmitry Sotnikov and the most experienced Anton Shibalov.

In the days of the race the Chelny's crews will perform under the guidance of the experienced coach Sergey Savostin, who led Airat Mardeev to his victory last year. The "KAMAZ-master" is again set only to win, but with the arrival of Gerard de Roy on Iveco, several teams on Tatra and three Renault trucks from Mammoet Riwald Rally Sport the competition will be higher than ever.

The Silk Road-2017 rally solemnly starts on Red Square in Moscow on July 7 and finishes in the Chinese city of Xian on July 22. The route of the race will pass through the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan and China. Its length is 9608 kilometers, of which 4,089 kilometers are special stages. Total the drivers will overcome 14 stages.

The rally-marathon will pass through the cities: Moscow, Cheboksary, Ufa, Kostanay, Astana, Semey, Urdzhar, Karamay, Urumqi, Hami, Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Alashan-Yuci, Zhongwei and Xian.
