Bashkir grandmaster Alexander Georgiev won World Cup stage in Spain

UFA, 31 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Dmitry Slezin/. In Spain the World Cup stage - the Salou Open international tournament ended with a victory of Alexander Georgiev. 22 international grandmasters took part in the competition, including world champions in international draughts among men (Rul Bumstra) and women (Natalia Sadovska). A total of 144 draughts players from Europe, Asia, South and North America participated in it. Among them there were three players from Bashkortostan: Alexander Georgiev, Guzel Georgieva and Rufina Ayupova.
Competitions were held on the Swiss system in nine rounds. As in the last year, the 9-time world champion Alexander Georgiev was the best. He scored 14 points out of 18 possible. The second was Ivan Trofimov (Russia), the third Artem Ivanov (Ukraine) - 13 points each.
The best Russian women player was the current world champion in blitz, Matryona Nogovitsyna (12 points). The second was Heike Verhöl (Netherlands), the third - Natalia Sadovska (Poland) - all had 11 points.
The trainees of Ishimbay draughts school Rufina Ayupova (seventh place) and Guzel Georgieva (14th place) had by one point less – 10 points.
