Bashkortostan parachutists - world champions in Austria

UFA, 13 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Dmitry Slezin/. The Austrian Alpendorf Ski Resort hosted the 16th Para-Ski World Championships. About 70 best sportsmen from Austria, Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and other countries took part in it.
The Russian national parachute team consisting of Aleksei Burenin, Anton Filippov, Ayaz Karimov and Arthur Bikmetov - all sportsmen from Bashkiria - won gold in the team event. A truly joyful was the victory of Alexei Burenin in the individual competition. Now Ufa native is the eight-time world champion with this achievement.
Ayaz Karimov was the bronze medalist in the individual competition. The top ten included Bashkir athletes Anton Filippov, Arthur Bikmetov and Alexey Tolkachev.
The native of Bashkortostan Ekaterina Nevskaya together with the athlete from Kazan Angelika Govorova performed in the "team para-ski" discipline and took the bronze. In the individual competition the parachutist entered the top ten of the strongest athletes with the seventh result.
The parachutist from Bashkortostan Arthur Bikmetov became the world champion for the first time. Due to this, our republic is now the birthplace of six world champions in parachuting. These are Alexei Burenin, Ksenia Trofimova, Ayaz Karimov, Anton Filippov and Alexey Tolkachev.
