1000 Cyclists Day will be held again in Ufa

UFA, 7 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. In Ufa, organizers of one of the most popular sporting events - 1000 Cyclists Day informed about a new format of the event this year.

It is proposed to implement the Open Streets concept, which for many years has been implemented in major metropolitan areas around the world. The basic idea is to distribute themed activities between the different sites of the city. The cycling parade will not be a major component, but only a part of the scale event. The city centre will be made fully cycling-pedestrian, with more than 10 thematic areas inside of it. The Gostiny Dvor shopping mall will host an exhibition of the Museum of Soviet life and handicrafts, the Two Fountains Square - a children's playground and a flea market, «ArtTerria» Alley can become a platform with significant cultural orientation. Thematic areas may appear near the "Rodina" cinema and Bashkortostan State Concert Hall.

The centre of the main activities will be a square in front of the Congress Hall. There will be a food festival, competition, lectures on the cycling theme, "VeloUfa" projects and a gala concert venue.

A detailed concept of the new 1000 Cyclists Day will be presented in the near future on the official website of the event. Everyone will be able to share their ideas and suggestions there.

The first urban cycling festival 1000 Cyclists Day was held in 2011. It was attended by thousands of Ufa townspeople and nearby residents. In 2016 about 15 thousand cyclists ran along the central streets of the city.
