Bashkiria residents can become volunteers at FIFA World Cup in 2018

UFA, 3 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. Residents of Bashkortostan may become volunteers at the FIFA World Cup in 2018. Applications for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 World Football Championship in Moscow were filed by more than one thousand inhabitants of the republic, the press service of the Chief Federal Inspector informs.

On February 1, the organizing committee has started to test applicants. As explained by the autonomous non-commercial organization "Centre for Physical Culture and Sports Development RB", which deals with selection of volunteers in the republic, only 80 people will be qualified for going to Moscow.

"Volunteers have to pass tests on psychology, literacy and the English language. The competition is high - 13 applicants per place", said the head of the Centre Timur Safargaleev.

Matches of the World Football Cup 2018 will be held in 11 Russian cities. Ufa is not included in this list, but a training base for one team-participant of the World Cup will be located in the capital.

Construction of the FIFA World Cup facilities, located in the Volga Federal District, is personally overseen by the Volga Envoy Mikhail Babich. Yesterday the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian President to the Volga Federal District familiarized with construction of the main facility - the "Nizhny Novgorod" stadium. Currently, all five floors of the arena are erected there that will seat 45 thousand spectators. The planned completion date of works is December 2017.

As part of the presidential control over the preparation for holding the World Cup 2018 Mikhail Babich is going to inspect the construction progress of sports facilities and transport infrastructure in other cities of the district.
