Rustem Khamitov has met with ultralight aviation world champions Maxim Semenov and Alfiya Semenova

UFA, 2 February 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. On February 1, the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov met with the members of the national ultralight aircraft teams of Russia and Bashkortostan, and the world champions of Russia Maxim Semenov and Alfiya Semenova.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Youth Policy and Sport RB Andrey Ivanyuta and the Chairman of the Ultralight Aviation Sports Federation RB, the Chairman of the Regional Office DOSAAF (Voluntary Society for Assisting Army, Air Force, and Navy) RB Sergey Minigulov.

Prospects of sport ultralight aviation in the republic, possibility of hosting international competitions in Bashkortostan, infrastructure development issues of "Pervushino" airfield, ultralight aircraft, ultralight trikes and gyroplanes application in agriculture and in emergency services were discussed during the meeting.

The 29th ultralight aviation championship of Russia was held in 2016 at the "Pervushino" airfield near Ufa. In the team standings Bashkortostan team took the first place. The contribution to the common victory was made by the Semenovs, who won the first place in ultralight trikes class.

92 crews from 17 countries - from Japan to Canada participated in the 15th World Championship, which was held in the UK. Maxim Semenov and Alfiya Semenova became champions as part of the Russian team, having taken the first place in the class of two-seat ultralight trikes.

The Head of the Republic congratulated the athletes on their achievements, noting that this kind of sport was yet to develop in the republic. He asked their impressions of participation in international competitions, the peculiarities of their conducting.

This year, the couple plans to go to the 14th European Championship.
