Salavat Yulaev - SKA: first chance to stay in playoff in anniversary season

On Wednesday, February 1, HC Salavat Yulaev begins the final home series of games in the ninth championship of the Kontinental Hockey League. Its first opponent in the four-match task will be the absolute leader of the championship - SKA (St. Petersburg) headed by Russian national team coach Oleg Znarok and with Russian hockey stars Pavel Datsyuk and Ilya Kovalchuk.

The SKA team has 127 points after 55 matches. HC Salavat Yulaev has 82 points after 56 games (the fifth place in the East, followed by six pursuers for top eight).

SKA defeated Salavat Yulaev with a score of 7: 1 in the first match of the season between these rivals in St. Petersburg.

Throughout the winter calendar (19 matches) Salavat Yulaev won in regulation time only once - at home against the underdog Spartak (Moscow) - 5: 3.
