Extreme fire danger warned in Bashkiria

The forecast indicates extreme fire danger persists across the republic, along with fog that reduces visibility to 500 m or less on certain road sections at night and in the morning.

Bashkiria is experiencing dry, sunny weather, which increases the risk of wildfires.

Since the beginning of the year, Bashkortostan has had 34 forest fires covering more than 288 hectares. Dry vegetation caught fire 325 more times, affecting more than 2,520 hectares. In most cases, people's irresponsible behavior caused the fire.

Even a small spark can grow into a large blaze in minutes, Alexander Sheldyaev, Acting Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, noted. The flames quickly spread to trees and grass, destroying everything in their path, including residential areas, houses, and people.

"We are keeping the forest fire situation under control. The republic has successfully monitored forests using video cameras, and we will continue to improve this system. But, of course, it is easier to prevent a disaster," Sheldyaev reminded. "I strongly urge you not to build fires in the forest or on peatlands, not to throw away cigarette butts and matches, and not to burn trash or dry grass. Leave the place clean behind you."
