In Bashkiria, fraudsters stole 705 thousand rubles from pensioner

A 79-year-old woman contacted the Salavat police.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, the perpetrators acted in stages. First, a fake polyclinic employee called the woman's landline phone and convinced her to undergo a chest X-ray, finding out her SNILS number. Then, an unknown person contacted her and said her account on "Gosuslugi" (State Services) had been hacked. The final stage was a call from a "military prosecutor's office employee," who stated that criminals were trying to transfer her savings abroad to finance unfriendly states.

To save the money, the man convinced the pensioner to withdraw all her savings and hand them over to a courier who arrived at her home for "declaration." When the interlocutor stopped responding, the woman realized she had fallen victim to a scam. Authorities initiated a criminal case for "fraud" over the theft.
