Teacher from Ufa lost her apartment and 4.5 million rubles by believing scammers
A 32-year-old employee of one of the capital's educational institutions lost nearly 4.5 million rubles after believing promises of quick earnings in cryptocurrency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan reported.
The woman met a foreigner online who suggested she invest. The Ufa resident took out a loan of over a million rubles, then sold her own apartment, and transferred more than 3 million rubles to the attackers' crypto wallet. Communication ceased immediately after the victim ran out of money — the man blocked her and deleted their correspondence.
Authorities have opened a criminal case into the incident. The police remind: if someone asks you to take out a loan, sell property, and submit applications for you, these are key signs of fraud.
