The day before, eyewitnesses spotted a glowing phenomenon in the night sky over Ufa. Tamara Denisova, an astronomer at the Ufa City Planetarium, explained to Bashinform that it was a meteor.
"It is possible that it belongs to the September Epsilon-Perseids meteor shower, which is active from September 5 to 21. Its peak activity occurs on the night of September 9 to 10. This is a very weak shower, producing 5-8 meteors per hour. This may be a sporadic meteor, not belonging to any shower. There are also a great many such meteors," the astronomer said.
