Bank employees saved 77-year-old Ufa resident from theft of million rubles

A criminal case has been initiated under the article on attempted fraud on an especially large scale.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, scammers began communicating with a 77-year-old Ufa resident on a messenger app under the pretext of connecting her to a "house chat." They extracted a code from an SMS message. Then, fake employees of the "Gosuslugi" (State Services) portal and Rosfinmonitoring called her and said her account had been hacked. The pensioner was offered to transfer her savings to a "safe account."

Following the scammers' instructions, the woman went to the bank to withdraw her funds. However, the branch employees suspected something was wrong and refused to give her the money. When she returned home, the victim realized she had been deceived and contacted the police.
