About 2,500 people gathered at the "Look at the Stars" project stargazing trip in the steppe near Orenburg to observe the peak of the Perseid meteor shower on the night of August 12 to 13. Guests included residents of Ufa, Kumertau, Yekaterinburg, Samara, and Saint Petersburg.
As the organizers reported, this year the emphasis was on naked-eye observation. With the Moon absent, viewing conditions were almost ideal. Participants not only watched the starfall but also attended a lecture on cosmic objects and constellations. The publication "Orenburg Media" acted as a co-organizer and information partner.
Perseids are an annual meteor shower that occurs when the Earth passes through the trail of particles from the comet Swift-Tuttle. According to the lecturers, you can observe individual meteors until August 24.
