Ufa resident's "appointment at Pension Fund" cost him 2.5 million rubles

Fraudsters communicated with the pensioner for an entire month.

In the Bashkir capital, a 77-year-old man who fell victim to scammers contacted the police. He lost all his savings.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Ufa resident communicated with the criminals via messengers throughout July. The interlocutors introduced themselves as fake employees of the Pension Fund, Rosfinmonitoring, and the FSB.

Under the pretext of an "appointment at the Pension Fund," the scammers convinced the man that his savings were in danger. They then persuaded the victim that, to "secure the funds," they needed to be handed over to a courier. The pensioner, trusting the "specialists," gave over 2.5 million rubles in savings to an unknown young woman.

Only after the criminals stopped contacting him did he realize he had become a victim of fraud.

Police have opened a case under the article "Fraud."

The police once again remind the public: government agency employees never call via messengers to demand that money be transferred to "safe accounts," nor do they send couriers to collect cash.
