On the roads of the republic, 43 drivers who got behind the wheel while intoxicated were detained in just one day. Five of them were caught driving while intoxicated for the second time. Authorities have initiated a criminal case against each of them. Another nine drivers got behind the wheel without a license, the chief state traffic inspector of the republic, Vladimir Sevastyanov, reported.
In total, traffic police inspectors suppressed 1,291 traffic violations. Most often, motorists transport children without restraint devices (44 cases) and drive into the oncoming lane in prohibited areas (27 cases).
"I remind you of the administrative liability for such misdemeanors. Repeated drunk driving entails not only large fines but also actual imprisonment. Driving into the 'oncoming lane' is punishable by a fine of 7,500 rubles or the deprivation of a license for a period of four to six months (in case of a repeat violation — one year), and transporting a child without a car seat will cost the driver 5,000 rubles," Vladimir Sevastyanov emphasized.
