
A 69-year-old resident of Belebey lost 950 thousand rubles after communicating with fraudsters, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan reported. The man became a victim of a fraudulent scheme.
He received a message in a messenger app regarding the sale of a refrigerator. The Belebey resident had indeed posted such an advertisement on a free classifieds website. The end of the message contained a link. Upon clicking it, the man saw a screenshot of his personal page on Gosuslugi, as well as information about a hack and his passport details.
Immediately after this, calls from unknown numbers began coming in through the messenger app. The fraudsters, posing as employees of the Ministry of Digital Development and an investigator, convinced the man under various pretexts to transfer money to a "safe account," allegedly to block a loan application and prevent fraudulent actions.
As a result, the victim, following the scammers' instructions, transferred his savings totaling 950 thousand rubles. A criminal case has been initiated.
