In Bashkiria, scammers swindled man out of more than 1.5 million rubles
A criminal fraud case has been initiated.
In the city of Oktyabrsky, a 59-year-old resident fell victim to phone scammers, losing more than 1.5 million rubles. It all started with a call about the need to replace intercom keys, during which the scammers swindled him out of an SMS code.
Then, posing as employees of Rosfinmonitoring and the FSB, they convinced the man that a loan was being taken out in his name. Under psychological pressure, the city resident handed over 1.2 million rubles in cash to a courier and transferred another 300 thousand to a "safe account."
The deception was revealed when the "curators'" phones were blocked. The victim contacted the police, and a criminal case was initiated, reported the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan.
