Ufa resident believed scammers and lost money

A 61-year-old woman fell victim to phone scammers who operated according to a well-known yet still effective scheme.

Under the pretext of protecting savings from unauthorized transactions, the criminals convinced the woman to transfer 365 thousand rubles to them.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Bashkortostan, it all started with calls from individuals who introduced themselves as employees of a mobile phone company, the "Gosuslugi" portal, and even the "Central Bank." The scammers told the pensioner that attempts were being made to take out loans in her name, and to save her money, it was necessary to transfer it to a so-called "safe account urgently.

Trusting the fraudsters' convincing words, the woman transferred the entire amount of her savings. Realizing she had been deceived, she immediately contacted law enforcement agencies.
