On this day at 19:24, it enters superior conjunction with the Sun. This marks the end of Mercury's morning visibility and the beginning of its evening visibility.
Mercury, like Venus, is visible either in the evening after sunset or in the morning before sunrise. And although Mercury's evening visibility begins after May 14, it will not be visible for several days due to its close proximity to the Sun in the sky. At the end of May, it will be visible after sunset against the evening twilight, low on the northwest horizon, in the constellation Taurus.
As explained in the Ufa City Planetarium, Mercury's evening visibility will last until its inferior conjunction with the Sun, which will occur on July 13, after which its morning visibility will begin.
Mercury is the fastest planet in the Solar System — it completes one revolution around the Sun in 88 Earth days. As a result, its position relative to the Earth and the Sun changes rapidly, and in four months it can appear as both an evening and a morning star.
