In Ufa, buyers took an individual entrepreneur, a furniture supplier, to court and won the lawsuits. Legal assistance to consumers was provided by Rospotrebnadzor. As the department reported, one of the buyers signed a contract to purchase an item worth almost 42,000 rubles and made a prepayment of 5,000 rubles. However, they never received their purchase. A similar incident occurred with another client of the furniture salon, who paid almost 37,000 rubles for "nothing."
As a result of the proceedings, the court ordered the seller to pay back the 5,000 rubles paid, an equal amount in penalties, 1,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages, and a 5,500 ruble fine. The second buyer should also be refunded their prepayment, penalty, 10,000 rubles in compensation, and an additional 6,500 rubles in damages, totaling almost 90,000 rubles, and the fine to the treasury will amount to 45,000 rubles.
