Spring festival was celebrated on grand scale at Tura-khan mausoleum in Bashkortostan

The main ritual of the holiday is the preparation and serving of porridge, which was distributed not only to the guests but also to the birds.

Today, May 3, a bright and colorful Bashkir cultural festival "Kargatuy" ("Crow's Porridge") took place on the square of the "Tura-khan" visitor center in the Chishminsky District. The guests of the event included not only adults but also children, for whom this day became a real immersion into the traditions of their ancestors.

"Kargatuy" is an ancient ritual holiday dedicated to the arrival of spring, the completion of fieldwork, and the awakening of nature. The main ritual is the preparation and serving of porridge, which was distributed not only to the guests but also to the birds. It is believed that in this way one can appease the birds and attract good luck and a rich harvest.

One of the most spectacular moments of the festival was the contest for the most ancient samovar. This household item was chosen for a reason — it is a true symbol of home comfort, warmth, and strong family traditions.

Owners of unique specimens received monetary certificates. The main surprise awaited the guests at the end: the oldest samovar turned out to be the same age as the 1905–1907 revolution — it was produced more than 100 years ago.
