As "Izvestia Mordovii" shared, when planting onions, it is necessary to wait for the soil to warm up to 10-12 degrees Celsius: in frozen ground, the plant does not sprout, and there is a risk of bolting.
Also, one must not plant onion sets in waterlogged soil, because they can rot. Agronomists advise against rushing plantings and waiting for stable warmth.
