

These are sarcoscypha. They are easy to recognize by their unusual shape: small scarlet "cups" seem to light up among last year's foliage and damp moss.
As noted by the national park's press service, sarcoscypha appear very early — sometimes immediately after the snow melts, when nature is just beginning to wake up.
Most often, they grow on old twigs and woody debris, helping the forest in the natural cycle of life.
Despite their fragile appearance, these mushrooms tolerate the cool weather well and become a real decoration of the spring forest.
