

In Russia, there will be punishment for insulting the memory of genocide victims.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law on criminal liability for denial or approval of the genocide of the Soviet people by Nazis during the years of the Great Patriotic War, as well as for insulting the memory of genocide victims. The document was published on the official legal information portal.
The law provides for criminal liability up to three years of deprivation of liberty and a fine of 2 to 5 million rubles for denial or justification of genocide, as well as for insulting the memory of its victims.
In addition, up to five years of deprivation of liberty is threatened for destruction or desecration of burial sites of genocide victims, as well as monuments and other memorial structures dedicated to them.
