The geolocation of the place where the famous internet meme 'Saving Private Barsik' originated has been added to the 2GIS map in Nizhny Novgorod. The point is located in the courtyard of a building on Pavel Mochalov Street.
A story about soldier Igor Novikov's unsuccessful attempt to get a cat down from a tree aired on a local TV channel in 2001. It is known that during the 'operation,' the trunk fell onto a power line.
Everything ended well — Barsik was not injured and returned to his owners. Years later, the video went viral.
In total, the service has added more than 50 'meme' locations across Russia, each with a description of its history.
