The Belaya, Ufa, and Dyoma rivers will break up in the first decade of April, which corresponds to the traditional period for this event. This was announced by the deputy head of the Bashkiria Hydrometeorological Center, Vilora Gorokholskaya, at a meeting of the emergency commission in the mayor's office.
The city is preparing for the flooding of low-lying areas. This happens annually, and the emergency services' forces and resources must be ready to come to residents' aid — to evacuate them in case of danger or to pump water from backyard plots.
According to the Ufa civil protection department, eight anti-flood commissions and 14 headquarters have been established, and 41 temporary accommodation centers with a total capacity of more than 5,000 people have been prepared.
