Starting March 1, the rules for the psychiatric examination of workers in Russia are changing. According to the new order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, psychiatric examination of employees involved in certain types of work will be conducted not only by a medical commission, but also by a commission of psychiatrists, and exclusively on the basis of a referral from the employer or their authorized representative.
As explained by the deputy head of the State Labor Inspectorate of Bashkortostan, Oksana Vanskova, the main innovation is that the employer will be obliged to refer the employee for a psychiatric examination if signs of a mental disorder are identified during a mandatory periodic medical examination.
