Student from Ufa lost more than one million rubles to scammers.

The young woman believed a fake employee of her college's academic office.

A young resident of Ufa fell victim to a scam scheme and, following the fraudsters' instructions, deprived herself and her mother of more than one million rubles. As reported by the press service of the Ufa Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the student received a call from someone posing as an employee of her college. He said he was filling out an electronic gradebook and asked her to send a four-digit code via SMS and then come to the dean's office to sign some documents.

"Soon after, she received another call from a woman who introduced herself as a representative of the 'Gosuslugi' public services portal. She asked whether the student had shared any codes with anyone. After the girl answered yes, the caller claimed that the personal data of both the student and her mother had fallen into the hands of scammers. Then fake law enforcement officers took over the conversation. They intimidated her by saying that a criminal case had been opened against her mother. Frightened, the student waited until her mother fell asleep, then, following the scammers' instructions, took her mother's bank cards and phone. After that, she withdrew the savings in cash and transferred the money to unknown accounts," police reconstructed the sequence of events.
