Russia's Ministry of Transport has published information about the termination of regular bus services from Ishimbay and Sterlitamak to Orenburg. The document states that the routes were closed at the request of Bashavtotrans.
A Bashinform correspondent requested a comment from a representative of the regional state carrier.
"In fact, we closed this route a year ago due to low passenger demand, so the appearance of this information now is somewhat surprising. As for travel to Orenburg, this need is currently being effectively met by the Lastochka electric train, and there is no need at the moment to organize bus routes," commented Alexey Vasyura, Deputy General Director of Bashavtotrans for Transportation.
