In the village of Urtaulovo in the Krasnokamsky District, partridges have adapted to foraging directly on the road. A flock of birds was filmed by Albert Sharipov, chairman of the local Hunters and Fishers Society.
As Renara Gazina, press secretary of the Bashkortostan Ministry of Ecology, explained to Bashinform, such behavior by birds in winter is quite understandable. Their main winter diet consists of plant seeds, which they dig out from under the snow. When snow cover is deep, obtaining food becomes difficult and dangerous. Therefore, partridges often move to roadsides and people's footpaths, where there is less snow and food is much easier to find.
