Bashkortostan will increase its budget for schoolchildren initiatives

The regional government made the decision.

This refers to the school's participatory budgeting program. This new support program for educational institutions aims to engage the student community in budget decisions for the development of school grounds and infrastructure.

According to a document obtained by Bashinform, support for school student projects will increase to 600,000 rubles starting in 2025 and to 700,000 rubles beginning in 2027.

Previously, the program's support amount was 500,000 rubles, supplemented by district co-financing. Parents can also assist schools.

In 2024, schoolchildren in the republic submitted 374 applications to the participatory budgeting project competition—155 more than the previous year. Of these, the competition committee accepted 220 to the main stage. In 2023, 144 projects from across Bashkortostan won. "The essence of the competition is that students themselves determine which projects should be implemented in their school, what spaces they need. It's similar to our program to support local initiatives, but for children. Some decide to develop leisure and social areas, sports grounds, while others propose renovating cafeterias or opening a school cafeteria. We allocate funds from the republic's budget to implement the winning projects," noted Bashkortostan Head Radiy Khabirov.
