Starting January 20, 2026, children under 14 flying internationally (including to neighboring countries) will need a passport (biometric or non-biometric), or their information must be entered in the parent's international passport. The State Duma passed this law back in July.
Aeroflot recently announced that it is allowing free corrections to the details of young passengers who purchased tickets using their birth certificates. This information can be changed in the booking, or by contacting the contact center, a sales office, or the agent from whom the tickets were purchased, the airline's press service explained. The main requirement is that the young passenger's full name and date of birth must match. The airline did not explain why tickets are still being sold under the old rules.
A similar rule is also coming into effect on the railways.
