Russia will commemorate genocide victims

The State Duma has proposed making April 19th the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People. It is known that on this date in 1943, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued a decree that secured the responsibility of the Nazis and their accomplices for atrocities against civilians.

Furthermore, in Russia, commemorating the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people will be included in the list of charitable and volunteer activities, and NGOs that search for and identify the victims will be granted a socially oriented status. Thanks to this initiative, they will receive additional state support—for example, free use of premises, tax-free reimbursement of communication costs, health insurance, and so on.
